Mecklenburg Vorpommern
The Black Forest situated in Germany is one of the best places you could visit to encounter some of the greatest natural beauty of Germany. The Black Forest acquired its name because of the concentration of pine trees which makes the forest to look dark from a distance, there are also mountains nearby which overlook the forest and cast shadows over the valley, to make it look even darker. All the trees which are cut down within the black forest are immediately replaced and new ones planted.
If you love nature then the Black Forest is definitely a must to visit. I visited the Black Forest last year whilst on a sight seeing tour of Europe. I stayed in the Hotel Feldberg, Feldberg is situated within the Black Forest so the hotel was a good choice for my stay. As for Archaeological finds within the Black Forest of Germany I personally couldn’t find any history which had been written on this subject. I would imagine though with the Black Forests history that there will be Archaeological sites within the Black Forest region.
Whilst in Germany I also visited Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It has the longest coastline in Germany and hundreds of lakes. A protection law was brought in for the protection of cultural heritage in 1993 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern after many archaeological underwater finds were made. Man has travelled the waters of the Baltic sea and lakes for many thousands of years, the lakes of which are now Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Many men lost there lives and vessels were also lost in many battles which took place in these waters, so you can imagine the past history which had been uncovered by these discoveries. Under these waters many archaeological finds have been made from whole ships, debris and cargo. If you are interested in finding out about under water Archaeological finds, then this is the place to go. I am sure that there are many more Archaeological finds still to be made in this part of the world.
I stayed at the Hotel Mecklenburg-Vorpommern during my stay, it was in a central location and near to all the historical sites that I wanted to visit. I found there were lots of cheap flights from London to Frankfurt Germany, and a trip to the black forest should be on any agenda of site seeing when visiting Germany. Both the Black Forest and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were both worth the visit.
